2017 Events and workshops
"Not all great classes have to be all about 'learning something.' Especially in the world of creative arts, sometimes the best thing a teacher can do is to inspire. That was exactly what author Coleen Paratore did..." Lauren Grimley, student at Cape Cod Writers Center Conference http://blog.laurengrimley.com/2013/08/11/catching-fireflies.aspx
"Coleen Paratore is a font of inspiration, and energy. Her giving nature is fuel for the creative soul. I have been fortunate to take part in two of her workshops. On both occasions, I left revitalized and more confident about why I write." Dan Masucci, Writer/Director of DxONE, the first narrative film about Type 1 Diabetes
May this be a Great Year of Reading and Writing for all of us!
If you want some inspiration and coaching for writing, I hope you'll register for one of my short, fun, motivating workshops at the wonderful Arts Center of the Capital Region, www.artscenteronline.org in the heart of my fabulous hometown of Troy, N.Y, the setting for many of my books, including Dreamsleeves, Writing it Right, and my latest novel, Roar Like A Girl. There is ample free parking behind the building, and a host of restaurants and lovely stores to explore after we finish -- including the fab indie bookstore, Market Block Books. :)
We learn to write by reading and writing. To me, teaching is about inspiring -- igniting the flame and drawing forth the light in others. I never teach the same way twice. At the start of a class, I find out who's in the circle and what people are working on, then we write-and-share, write-and-share in search of sparks that will move us forward with our writing.
All genres and experience levels are welcome -- the mix makes it more dynamic and interesting. Bring a writer's notebook, pen, questions, and, if you wish, a first line, paragraph, or page for feedback. I look forward to welcoming you into one of my writer's circles soon. Perhaps one of these:
